Dashmi

"Dashmi" a traditional Maharashtrian dish. Also known as 'tikhat poli'. Nutritious and easy to make. Best during travelling as it lasts up to 2 to 3 days.

Ingredients:

Wheat flour 2 cups
Red chili powder 1 1/2 tsp
Turmeric powder 3/4 tsp
Sesame seeds 1 tsp
Carom seeds (ajwain) 1/2 tsp
Asafetida 1/2 tsp
Coriander chopped (optional)
Oil/ ghee for greasing
Salt to taste
Water

Method:

  1. Take a bowl, add wheat flour followed with all ingredients except water. Mix everything nicely.
  2. Now add water to make soft dough (like for roti) and knead well.
  3. Make small balls of the dough and roll them like chapati.
  4. Heat a pan and roast them nicely (same like roti) flipping on the other side.
  5. Grease them with oil or ghee. Dashmi is ready to serve.
  6. Serve with pickel, peanut chutney or with ghee.
