Vegetable Masala Khichadi

'Khichadi' a one dish meal recipe. Simple, easy and nutritious too. A good source of carbohydrates and proteins.

Ingredients:
Rice 2 cups
Pigeon pea (Tur daal) 1 cup
Cumin seeds 1/2tsp
Mustard seeds 1/2tsp
Ginger garlic paste 1 tsp
Turmeric powder 1/4tsp
Red chili powder 1tsp
Asafetida 1/2tsp
Maharashtrian Goda masala 1tsp
Garam masala 1/2tsp
Salt to taste
water
Peanuts
Tomato  1 (medium)finely chopped
Potato 1(medium) diced
Onion 1(medium) lengthwise chopped
Green peas 1/2cup 
Coriander
Oil 2Tbsp

Method:
  1. Wash rice and toor dal, changing water 2 to 3 times, drain out water.
  2. Heat the pressure cooker, add oil ,mustard seed and let them crackle, then add cumin seeds, curry leaves onion, ginger garlic paste, saute for few minutes.
  3. Then add tomato, potato, green peas, peanut saute and add turmeric powder, chili powder, asafetida, goda masala, garam masala saute all for few sec.
  4. Add rice and dal mix all together, add water, salt, coriander and close the lid.
  5. Pressure cook for 2 whistle (on medium flame).
  6. Let the pressure inside the cooker comes down to open the lid.
  7. Serve khichadi hot with pickle, yogurt and papad.
