Vegetable Masala Khichadi
'Khichadi'
a one dish meal recipe. Simple, easy and nutritious too. A good source of
carbohydrates and proteins.
Time: 20 to 25min
Ingredients:
Rice
2 cups
Pigeon
pea (Tur daal) 1 cup
Cumin
seeds 1/2tsp
Mustard
seeds 1/2tsp
Ginger
garlic paste 1 tsp
Turmeric
powder 1/4tsp
Red
chili powder 1tsp
Asafetida
1/2tsp
Maharashtrian
Goda masala 1tsp
Garam
masala 1/2tsp
Salt
to taste
water
Peanuts
Tomato 1 (medium)finely chopped
Potato
1(medium) diced
Onion
1(medium) lengthwise chopped
Green
peas 1/2cup
Coriander
Oil
2Tbsp
Method:
- Wash rice and toor dal, changing water 2 to 3 times, drain out water.
- Heat the pressure cooker, add oil ,mustard seed and let them crackle, then add cumin seeds, curry leaves onion, ginger garlic paste, saute for few minutes.
- Then add tomato, potato, green peas, peanut saute and add turmeric powder, chili powder, asafetida, goda masala, garam masala saute all for few sec.
- Add rice and dal mix all together, add water, salt, coriander and close the lid.
- Pressure cook for 2 whistle (on medium flame).
- Let the pressure inside the cooker comes down to open the lid.
- Serve khichadi hot with pickle, yogurt and papad.
